【摘要】:WARNINGBetabackscatterinstrumentsusedforthemeasurementofcoatingthicknessesuseanumberofdifferentradioactivesources.Althoughtheactivitiesofthesesourcesarenormallyverylow,theycanpresentahazardtohealth,ifincorrectlyhandled.Therefore,referenceshouldbemadetocurrentinternationalandnationalstandards,wheretheseexist.ThisInternationalStandardspecifiesamethodforthenon-destructivemeasurementofcoatingthicknessesusingbetabackscattergauges.Itappliestobothmetallicandnon-metalliccoatingsonbothmetallicandnon-metallicsubstrates.Tomakeuseofthismethod,theatomicnumbersorequivalentatomicnumbersofthecoatingandthesubstrateneedtodifferbyanappropriateamount.NOTESincetheintroductionoftheX-rayfluorescencemethod(ISO3497),thebetabackscattermethodhasbeenusedlessandlessforthemeasurementofcoatingthickness.However,becauseofitslowercost,itisstillaveryusefulmethodofmeasurementformanyapplications.Inadditionithasawidermeasuringrange.
